Scope of SMMH 2009
This conference will deal with the variety of structures
required for extracting mineral resources from the
ground and conveying, storing and processing the materials.
Many of these structures are unique to the mining
and minerals processing industry, are often subjected
to exceptional loads and effects, are frequently constructed
under unusual circumstances and have to survive in
aggressive environments.
The Conference will consider topics relating to these
type of structures constructed from any material and
including the following aspects:
Design
Construction
Operation
Deterioration
Maintenance
The Conference will include a one day workshop on
SANS 10208 – The South African Bureau of Standards:
Design of Structures for the Mining Industry.
